INSO Somalia seeks to address the growing challenges of safety in the NGO community in Somalia through the provision

of

specialized,

coordinated,

and

focused

safety

management

support.

It

recognizes

the

insecure

operating environment all NGOs face in Somalia and the collective value of enhancing safety preparedness and support.

The project provides the

NGO

community with its own safety focal

point and tailored safety

support

services through 3 main services: Research & Analysis (provision of regular reports, safety risk assessments and briefings); Capacity building (provision of various trainings); and Response (provision of support to crisis management in response to critical incidents).

1.

Job

Summary

Reporting

to

the

Training

Manager,

the

Training

Officer

is

responsible

for

conducting,

facilitating,

and

delivering

high quality training and providing support to the Training Manager in the delivery of course outlined below and the development of future training provision.

Specifically,

the

Training

Officer

will:

Organize

training

courses

in

line

with

the

INSO

Somalia

Strategic

plan.

Co-facilitate

training

courses,

deliver

classroom

inputs,

and

manage

live

practical

scenarios.

Support

the

Training

manager

in

course

design

and

development.

Support

the

Training

manager

in

monitoring

&

evaluation

of

training

delivery

and

impact

Support

the

Training

manager

to

train,

coach,

mentor

and

develop

the

Training

Assistant

The Training Officer will also provide support in the preparation of administration, course reports, financial management and statistical reports for the Director, Horn of Africa for the benefit of INSO Donors and NGO

beneficiaries.

relevant

as

directed.

It

is

expected

that

the

Training

Officer

will

be

able

to

take

full

charge

of

the

planning,

preparation,

and

facilitation

of some of the training delivery when requested by the line manager.

Provide

logistic

support.

Responsible

to

produce

training

presentations,

course

programmes,

facilitator

notes,

lesson

plans

and

aid-memoires as directed by the training manager.

In

coordination

with

the

TM

and

other team members,

contribute

to

the

organization

of

training

logistics.

Prepare

training

schedule.

Advertise

the

courses.

Monitor

course

feedback

systems.

In

conjunction

with

the

training

manager

further

develop

course

appraisal

and

feedback

systems.

Maintain and regularly update the training database to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Update

monthly

monitoring

reports

that

contribute

to

INSO

global

training

activities

follow-

up.

Elaborate

and

guide

the

strategy.

Participate

proactively

in

the

development

and

delivery

of

INSO

Somalia

strategy.

Responsible

for

the

capitalization

of

training

notes

and

materials

and

the

development

of

INSO Somalia institutional memory.

Promote

the

development

of

new

training

courses

with

the

training

manager

utilizing

adult

learning

methodologies.

Other

responsibilities.

Work

closely

with

INSO

Somalia

colleagues

in

the

administration

of

procurement

issues,

finance and budget control, travel and accommodation booking for missions to the field.

Qualifications & Requirements

Qualification

experience.

Certified

occupational

experience

of

training

delivery.

Security/safety

training

course

attendance.

Evidence

of

knowledge

and

skills-based

training

delivery

to

junior

staff

and

senior

management.

First

Aid

qualification

Advanced

First

Responder

trainer

highly

desirable.

Four

years

of

experience

in

a

Security/Safety

training

environment.

Two

years

of

experience

with

an

NGO

in

a

position

dealing

with

safety/security

responsibilities.

(Security Focal Point experience is an added advantage.)

Somalia

experience

is

added

advantage.
