Terms of reference Lawyer Country Operations

Introduction Tiko believes in a world where all youth have the power to choose where, when, and how they meet their sexual reproductive health needs. Our digital platform delivers scalable and verifiable sexual reproductive health services for young people in 5 main markets in Sub Saharan Africa - Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa and Burkina Faso. We work together with local communities and use nudges like reminders, discounts, and reward points to encourage our users to access and use sexual and reproductive health services. We also support our users in becoming micro-entrepreneurs and adding value to their economies. We are looking for a local legal firm that is able to support us with ad hoc legal consultancy and support in our countries of operations Scope of work Tiko is looking for a legal partner that is able to advise and support Tiko as needed. We are looking for a partner that is able to offer the following services: Review the adequacy of contracts, memorandums of understanding and code of conduct document, HR Policies to support Tiko activities. These include review of the documents governing Tiko obligations and relationships with all suppliers of goods and services Review Tiko operations with a view of identifying legal risk exposure. The review should at a minimum be based on review of Tiko and its actor compliance with the most recent legislation in place in relation to Health regulations, Child protection acts,and local data protection acts applicable. Representation in court with respect to any civil litigation or criminal investigation and/or prosecution that may arise in the course of Tiko’s operations. Evaluation, advice and support with legal incidents when they occur. Formulation of legal assessments or opinions and advice on legal action requirements based on these opinions. Ensuring that Tiko is compliant with all relevant local laws and regulations. Deliverables Expert legal advice and timely and high-quality support on an ad hoc basis. Requirements Demonstration of experience and expertise of similar assignments Be a locally established and accredited legal advice firm. Evaluation criteria Description 1. References Did the bidder submit at least three relevant and contactable clients that were serviced in the past 36 months. Weight:10 5.
