Our experience spans stabilization, political economy, governance, and research; especially in fragile contexts like Somalia. ROLE SUMMARY: Farsight is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Associate to lead Research , Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) design and quality assurance for a long-term stabilization-focused research engagement with the a UN client in Somalia. This role ensures that research outputs, from field assessments to dashboards, meet the highest technical and ethical standards and align with the expectations of both Farsight and the UN. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Main Responsibility will be aimed at delivering comprehensive research services and technical support at Farsight Africa Group covering the countries of operation. Contribute to the development and profile of our research expertise with clients and key influencers. 1. Research Design & QA Implementation Lead QA review of all methodologies, survey tools, and analytical frameworks Provide technical input on in-depth context analyses, conflict assessments, and thematic studies required under the clientengagement. Ensure adherence to international best practices in research ethics and data quality M&E Systems and Reporting Design MEL systems aligned with client stabilization frameworks Guide indicator development and logistical frame alignment for all ToR-driven research cycles (baseline, midline, endline) Ensure evidence generated feeds directly into client reporting and programmatic adaptation Analysis, Validation, and Learning Oversee data synthesis and insight generation from qualitative and quantitative sources Lead internal and client-facing quality control checkpoints for dashboards, assessments, and final reports Support learning sessions with clientteams and stakeholders. Capacity Building & Team Leadership Mentor research officers and QA staff at Farsight Provide input into recruitment and onboarding of short-term technical experts Serve as a methodological focal point across multiple concurrent client tasks REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Social Sciences, M&E, Development Studies, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of experience in research/M&E, including in donor-funded, fragile contexts. Proven ability to review and improve research deliverables Familiarity with UN programs and stabilization-oriented data ecosystems Proficiency in analytical software (e.g., STATA, R, Nvivo) Strong understanding of results-based management and participatory research approaches Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills Proven ability to manage timelines, and multi-stakeholder environments Demonstrated ability in executing Research and M& E Proposals to UN agencies Extensive national and international (Somalia) experience in project management Familiarity with the socio-cultural context of East Africa Excellent writing and communication skills in English PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Excellent client-facing and internal verbal and written communication skills. Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking. Ability to predict challenges and proactively head-off obstacles. Excellent problem-solving skills, innovative and solutions-oriented.
