Background:

The Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization that was founded in April 1963 and was established with presidential decree No. 187 in 1965. It was then recognized by the ICRC in 1969 and in the same year became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent societies.

Overall, Job Purpose

Support the Reproductive Health Manager in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community-based reproductive health programs, with a focus on Female Community Health Workers (FCHWs). Provide technical assistance, ensure effective coordination, and contribute to quality service delivery in line with SRCS health policy.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring activities of the FCHWs.
  • Align program activities with SRCS quality indicators and health department priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Reproductive Health Manager and midwives in SRCS clinics (fixed and mobile).
  • Support recruitment, training, and mentoring of FCHWs to strengthen program outcomes.
  • Conduct regular supervision visits and provide on-the-job coaching.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis, and timely reporting of FCHW activities.
  • Maintain communication with partners through the line manager to ensure program development.
  • Contribute to health promotion activities in both clinic and community settings.
  • Compile and submit monthly reports on FCHW activities and referrals.
  • Ensure FCHWs are equipped with kits and coordinate replenishment with ICRC.
  • Train and support FCHWs in referral of SGBV cases.
  • Uphold confidentiality and a β€œdo no harm” approach.
  • Participate in regular meetings with FCHWs and midwives to strengthen SGBV case management.
  • Monitor and manage stock of Post Rape Kits (PRKs) and dignity kits, ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Ensure FCHWs refer obstetric fistula cases to PHC clinics and assist with follow-up.
  • Track referrals and maintain the fistula monitoring database.
  • Coordinate with clinics and Keysaney hospital for surgery scheduling and post-surgery follow-up.
  • Stay informed on socio-political developments and share relevant updates with branches, clinics, and coordination office.
  • Support relationship-building with donors, local authorities, and humanitarian actors.
  • Represent SRCS in relevant workshops, seminars, and meetings as delegated by the Reproductive Health Manager.

Proficiency in Somali and English.

  • Education: BS in Midwife, Medicine, Nursing and post-graduate qualifications or equivalent professional practice in Public Health, Community Health are added value.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in humanitarian or development organizations, with at least 2 years in reproductive health program implementation.
