SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

We are looking for Project Reintegration Officer who is
responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of comprehensive child protection and case management services for vulnerable children, including separated and unaccompanied children and children at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other forms of protection concerns.

- Assess protection needs and identify vulnerabilities and risks in the project implementation areas at both the health facility and community levels.
- Identify, assess, and register vulnerable, separated, unaccompanied, and at-risk children in the project implementation areas.
- Conduct Best Interest Assessments (BIA) and facilitate Best Interest Determinations (BID) in accordance with established child protection procedures.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized case management plans based on the best interests of each child.
- Conduct regular home visits and follow-up assessments to monitor child wellbeing and case progress.
- Ensure timely closure of cases following established case management procedures and standards.
- Promote child participation throughout the case management process while ensuring confidentiality and dignity.
- Coordinate comprehensive child protection case management services for vulnerable children and families.
- Lead Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) processes in collaboration with government authorities and community structures.
- Facilitate placement of children into appropriate kinship care, foster care, or other family-based alternative care arrangements.
- Conduct parenting orientation and capacity-building sessions for foster parents, kinship caregivers, and interim caregivers.
- Monitor reunified children and alternative care placements through regular follow-up visits.
- Coordinate referrals to health, nutrition, education, legal assistance, psychosocial support, disability services, and other specialized protection services.
- Strengthening collaboration with community-based child protection structures to identify and respond to child protection risks.
- Participate in child protection coordination meetings and technical working groups at woreda and zonal levels.
- Strengthen referral pathways and inter-agency coordination for child protection services.
- Build the capacity of community structures, social workers, and government frontline workers on child protection case management.
- Support harmonization and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), case management guidelines, and national child protection standards.
- Promote family-based care and prevent unnecessary family separation.
- Support awareness-raising activities on child rights, alternative care, and child protection within communities.
- Contribute to assessments, monitoring visits, evaluations, and child protection reviews.
- Track referral outcomes and monitor children's wellbeing following reunification or placement.
- Monitor the quality, coverage, and effectiveness of child protection case management, psychosocial support services, safe spaces, and community-based protection mechanisms.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and confidential collection of child protection case management data.
- Monitor the quality and effectiveness of case management interventions and family tracing processes
- Contribute to baseline, midline, and endline assessments, as well as post-intervention evaluations, ensuring child and survivor participation where safe and appropriate.
- Support the design and use of feedback and complaint mechanisms accessible to children, caregivers, and communities, and ensure timely response and integration of feedback into program improvement.
- Document and share lessons learned, promising practices, and case studies to inform evidence-based programming and advocacy.
- Ensure that reports reflect disaggregated data (e.g., by age, gender, disability) and highlight trends in protection risks and protection needs.
- Document and share case studies, success stories, and lessons learned to inform program adaptation, learning, and advocacy efforts.
- Maintain confidential and secure case files in accordance with case management information management standards.
- Maintain organized and secure documentation of case management files, incident reports, session logs, and referral records in accordance with data protection and confidentiality protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of case plans, referrals, assessments, follow-up visits, and case closures.
- Document family tracing, reunification, alternative care, and referral outcomes.
- Contributes to the preparation of input for internal learning reviews, evaluations, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Ensure adherence to SOS CV policies such as the Code of Conduct, Safeguarding Standards and others as well as the minimum standards of humanitarian relief
- Ensure that all support is provided in the best interest of the child.
- Responsible for taking part in awareness-raising sessions and capacity building training in relation to Safeguarding and Code of Conduct and to protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
- Support children, young people and program participants to make them understand the Safeguarding risks and protection mechanisms
- Ensure proper safeguarding procedures and policies are in place to protect programme participant children, young people, adults and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for reporting any safeguarding suspicion, concern, allegation, or incident immediately, following the safeguarding reporting procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring behavior and all relationships are based on safeguarding and in line with the Code of Conduct and adhering to it in every situation
- Be vigilant about any possible form of abuse/harm, neglect, harassment, or exploitation against, children, youth and adults in personal and professional lives;
- Report any Incident Management Team or concern within 24 hours to the Incident Management Team, focal person or concerned party through the defined channels for reporting the allegation
