BACKGROUND Islamic Relief Worldwide, Somalia Programme has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought-affected people through the provision of life-saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly among those living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation, and strengthening community cohesiveness and co-existence. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY Project Implementation & Coordination Execute day-to-day project activities in alignment with the approved work plan developed by the Project Officer in coordination with the Program Coordinator. Lead and coordinate the identification, selection, registration, and distribution processes for project beneficiaries. Provide direct support in organizing and supervising project field operations to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Community Engagement & Mobilization Conduct community mobilization and awareness campaigns to ensure strong community participation and ownership of project activities. Oversee targeting and sensitization sessions to ensure transparency and inclusivity in beneficiary selection. Guide and support local stakeholders in understanding project goals, activities, and their roles within the intervention framework. Project Monitoring Develop and implement a structured monitoring schedule to track project progress and outcomes. Participate in regular project planning and review meetings; assess performance, identify constraints, and provide actionable feedback. Participate monitoring of beneficiary registration, distribution and post-distribution activities to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines. Data Management & Reporting Verify and validate beneficiary data to ensure accurate targeting and appropriate support provision. Assist in compiling and preparing project documentation, including reports, specifications, beneficiary lists and progress updates. Stakeholder Representation & Communication Maintain organized technical files and records in accordance with standard procedures and digital filing systems. and digital filing systems. Represent IRW program in relevant coordination meetings, stakeholder forums and local meetings when required. Liaise with community leaders and other actors to ensure cohesive and coordinated project implementation. Provide livelihood input and support to beneficiaries to enhance productivity, sustainability, and self-reliance. Facilitate technical training sessions and field demonstrations as needed to build community capacity. Flexibility & Additional Duties Perform any other related tasks as assigned by the Project Officer, supporting the overall success of the project. SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS Basic understanding of project cycle management (planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting). Knowledge of beneficiary targeting, data collection, and feedback mechanisms. Ability to use digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, EBMs) is an advantage. Strong documentation and report-writing skills. Able to take initiative and work independently. Very high attention to detail. Cultural and political sensitivity. Must be flexible and willing to adapt to a fluid situation. Strong written and verbal communications skills and good command of English. QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor’s degree in development studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field. Minimum 2 years working experience with INGOs in the field of Integrated Sustainable Development and Resilience Building. Experience in project planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. Understanding of the key issues and trends in Food Security and Livelihood sector. Excellent spoken and written communication in English and interpersonal skills. Child Safeguarding: The position interacts with children and hence requires utmost compliance child protection and safeguarding policy.
