Job organizational context:

The Generic Job Profile for the Programme Associate at the

G-6 level

is to be used in a UNICEF office, in one of the programme sections.

This GJP covers a broad range of functions, however, depending on the context, the incumbent may focus on all, some, or only one or two areas with great depth. In addition, there may be additional functions not mentioned in the GJP. If this is the case, this can be made clear in work plans and/or individual performance plans.

Purpose for the job

:

Under the supervision and guidance of the WASH Specialist, the programme associate supports the WASH section by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement and monitor their country programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the field office, external partners and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery. S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones and advises on improvements to keep activities on track.

Minimum requirements

• Education : Completion of secondary education is required.
• Work Experience : At least 6 years of relevant work experience in administration, programme funding, programme management, programme communication, financial management, or related fields is required.
• Skills : Strong programme and administrative support skills, knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes, excellent organizational skills, planning and prioritization abilities, strong office management skills, high attention to detail, sound analytical skills, budget and resource management skills, confidentiality, initiative, good judgment, ability to work effectively in multicultural environments, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other relevant organizational systems.
• Language Requirements : Fluency in English is required.

• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.
• Experience in programme support, experience working with the UN or another international organization, and experience in WASH are desirable.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is an asset.
