Job Title: Programme ASSOCIATE (FOOD SYSTEM)

What will you do?
Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer, and overall supervision of the Head of Field Office, the Programme Associate is responsible for the following duties:
• Explore and engage with the CPs, partners, and communities to get opportunities for appropriate resilience and livelihood projects that positively impact the targeted community and presentit as a proposal for the office and technical team for future resource opportunities.
• Explore suitable climate change adaptation projects that can restore the livelihood of the affected population by droughts or disasters and present as well for resources opportunities.
• Coordinate with the implementing partner and actively monitor progress and performance, ensuring that project deadlines and targets are met.
• Provide supervision and support for the Training of Trainers (ToT) and on-farm training on the stages of post-harvest loss (PHL) reduction and access to markets, using both demonstrative and classroom-based teaching methods.
• Review social and behaviour change messages for broadcast using various communication channels
• Engage with target smallholder farmers, producer groups, and agro-dealers regularly to ensure smooth communications and to anticipate challenges
• Foster relationships and communications with relevant stakeholders, such as other operatingpartners, coordination mechanisms, government, and community members.
• Coordinate and liaise with internal counterparts on a range of complex matters to enableeffective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
• Ensure accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
• Provide specialized project management support to ensure that technical support is provided or resourced following WFP’s policies and procedures
• Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national governmentwithin a specific technical area.
Skills and Qualifications
Do you meet the minimum requirements?
• University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Market Information Systems, Environmental Engineering, Food Systems, or another field relevant to international development assistance, or Secondary Degree with additional years of related work ex-experience and/or pieces of training/courses.
• 6 years and above of progressively responsible work experience in programme functions.
• Having Served as a field programme manager, implementing programmes on the agri-culture value chain, and directing technical experience of different programme approaches.
• Having worked with relevant agriculture-oriented organizations and with a deep un-understanding of how to monitor technical activities related to production, post-harvest losses, and market linkages with smallholder farmers and/or cooperatives.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication in Somali and English is a must
Are you competent for this job? Do you have
• Managing of a complex group of stakeholders, CPs, government, cooperatives, smallholder farmers, private sector partners
• Technical support on projects with smallholder farmers, agriculture, production, post-harvest loss management, and market access
• Experience working in a complex emergency setting and in a complex institutional environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills.
