Job Description The community-based paralegals, appointed as casual staff, will work closely with urbanized project staff, authorities and the ICLA team in Dhusamareeb. Their primary role is to conduct necessary HLP diligence and land verification processes, community engagement sessions on land tenure, ensure access to land documentation for urban and pre-urban displacement affected communities. The establishment of the community-based paralegals in Dhusamareeb will support the enhancement of the accountability of legal support and ensure that communities understand their rights related to housing, land and property. Through this work, the paralegals will contribute to a better understanding of the local protection environment and strengthen community-level resilience against forced evictions. The paralegal also will support the ICLA team through structured outreach and data collection efforts across designated working areas, helping ensure timely and informed interventions by NRC. Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities: To conduct necessary HLP diligence and land verification processes in urbanized project target locations. Conduct community engagement sessions on land tenure and ensure access to land documentation for urban and pre-urban displacement affected communities. Conduct extensive community outreach to monitor, identify, and document eviction threats, patterns, and risk factors. Regularly engage with community members, IDP representatives, and local leaders to gather information on emerging eviction risks. Provide timely referrals to the ICLA team for follow-up on high-risk of eviction cases. Deliver accurate and accessible information and counselling services to communities regarding their HLP rights and available legal assistance. Organize and participate in individual and group information sessions across identified displacement sites. Assist in preparing and conducting community-based assessments (e.g., focus groups, interviews, and surveys) t === Skills & Qualifications === Qualifications Our Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a university graduate in law, or Social Science with a minimum of One year of previous experience in Protection or ICLA. Experience working in Dhusamareb ,Somalia. Technical with the local context and IDP-related challenges. Documented results related to the positionās responsibilities. Fluency in English, both written and verbal. We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels. In this position, you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people.
