Position Purpose

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of Bosaso International Airport. The role oversees airside, terminal, and landside operations, coordinates all operational stakeholders, ensures compliance with aviation regulations, and maintains airport readiness during normal operations, emergencies, and business continuity events.

Reporting To:

The Operations Manager will work closely with Air Traffic Services, Security, ARFF, Engineering, Ground Handling, Airlines, Government Authorities, Contractors, and Regulatory Bodies.

  • Managing day-to-day airport operations to ensure safe and efficient aircraft, passenger, and vehicle movements.
  • Leading airside, landside, and terminal operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with ICAO Standards, Civil Aviation Regulations, airport certification requirements, and company policies.
  • Managing and continuously improving the Airport Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Conducting operational inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, and other operational areas.
  • Coordinating airport emergency preparedness, response, and business continuity activities.
  • Managing airport security oversight in coordination with security authorities and stakeholders.
  • Supervising ground handling operations and ensuring efficient aircraft turnaround.
  • Coordinating with Air Traffic Control, airlines, government authorities, emergency services, and other airport stakeholders.
  • Leading operational committees, preparing agendas, recording meeting minutes, and monitoring implementation of action plans.
  • Managing Works in Progress (WIP), operational risk assessments, and contractor activities within airport operational areas.
  • Preparing operational reports, investigations, performance analyses, and monthly revenue reports.
  • Supporting commercial activities, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Airport Operations, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in airport operations.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within an airport operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of airport operations.
  • Airport certification requirements.
  • ICAO Annexes and airport operational standards.
  • Aviation, safety and security regulations.
  • Emergency response and contingency planning.
  • Operational risk management.
  • Ground handling operations.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
