Development Expertise Lab (DEL) specialises in data collection, data analysis, monitoring & evaluation and research activities in developing countries. DEL is hiring Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Experts based in East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda).

About East Africa

Somalia is located in the Horn of Africa and has a growing job market, particularly in the humanitarian, development, and private sectors. Major employment hubs include Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Garowe, Baidoa, and Kismayo, with opportunities from international NGOs, UN agencies, government institutions, and an expanding private sector.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health or a related field
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and/or learning for donor-funded development or humanitarian programmes
  • Demonstrated experience applying the OECD-DAC evaluation criteria or equivalent MEAL frameworks
  • Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills, including experience with statistical software (Stata, SPSS or R) and/or qualitative analysis tools
  • Proficiency with digital data collection platforms (ODK, KoboCollect, SurveyCTO or CommCare)
  • Sound knowledge of the development, humanitarian and policy context of the country of residence (Kenya, Uganda, Somalia or Ethiopia)
  • Prior experience working with UN agencies, international NGOs or bilateral/multilateral donors is highly desirable
  • Experience conducting gender-sensitive and disability-inclusive research is an asset
  • Excellent report-writing and facilitation skills in English; working proficiency in other relevant local languages is an advantage
  • Based in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia or Ethiopia.
