Job Purpose;
The
Medical underwiter and claim support officer
is responsible for assessing medical risks, evaluating insurance applications, and ensuring appropriate underwriting decisions. The role also involves reviewing medical insurance claims, verifying policy coverage, detecting fraud, and ensuring that valid claims are processed accurately, fairly, and within the company's service standards while complying with regulatory and Takaful principles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Assess medical insurance applications and determine the level of risk.
ü
Review medical histories, physician reports, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings.
ü
Evaluate pre-existing medical conditions and determine their impact on policy acceptance.
ü
Apply underwriting guidelines to approve, decline, postpone, or modify applications.
ü
Recommend premium loadings, exclusions, or special conditions where appropriate.
ü
Request additional medical information when necessary.
ü
Ensure underwriting decisions are accurate, consistent, and compliant with company policies.
ü
Maintain confidentiality of applicants' medical information.
ü
Detect non-disclosure or potential fraud during the underwriting process.
ü
Review and assess medical claims for eligibility and policy coverage.
ü
Verify hospital bills, invoices, prescriptions, and supporting medical documents.
ü
Confirm that treatments provided are medically necessary and covered under the policy.
ü
Investigate suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims.
ü
Liaise with hospitals, healthcare providers, brokers, and policyholders to obtain additional information.
