INTERNSHIP PURPOSE: The purpose of the post is to support the inequality policy and public campaigns activities. They will assist in the research activities, supporting in coordinating teams and project work plans.

The post will immensely be beneficial to the intern in that they will get an opportunity and support with learning on key areas of work within Oxfam International inequality campaigns team and be exposed to wider Oxfam work to help build their capacity. The learning plan will be developed jointly by the intern and their line manager.

KEY INTERNRESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support in coordinating teams: The intern will be involved in coordinating various teams with regular calls and outreach.
  2. Support in developing workplan and tracking implementation: the intern will support in the development of project activities and work plan and helping in monitoring implementations.
  3. Supporting in desktop research and analysis: the intern will closely be involved in carrying out desktop research and analysis in support of various policy, research, and campaign activities.
  4. Assist in the development of campaign materials: the intern will support in the development of various campaign products such social media products and research materials mentioned above.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    WHAT THIS ROLE CAN OFFER THE INTERN

    The intern will have an opportunity to be involved in a project that meet their personal development plans as well as gaining exposure to many aspects of Oxfam International’s inequality campaigns work and activities which cuts across advocacy, public campaigns and policy in economic inequality, public services, development finance and climate change in the context of the worldwide Oxfam confederation:

  • The intern will learn and gain understanding of inequality issues at all levels, and why inequality matters.

  • They will have an opportunity to learn and develop their project management skills, advocacy and influencing.

  • They will also develop their research skills in development context.

  • They will get an opportunity to build relationships within and outside Oxfam

KEY INTERNCOMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL

  • Able to develop a degree of self-awareness around your own strengths and weaknesses and your impact on others. Your self-awareness enables you to moderate and self-regulate your own behaviors to control and channel your impulses for good purposes.

  • Knowledge of socio-economic environment at national and global levels, especially regarding inequality.

  • Ability to liaise with a wide range of people, both internally and externally and at many levels, with credibility, tact and diplomacy

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Demonstrable experience in project management and excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Demonstrable desire to acquire technical professional experience in the INGO sector

  • Ability to lead projects in a way that inspires people to deliver.

  • Strong writing and editing skills .

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

  • Flexible, adaptive, willing to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks
