The nutrition situation in Somalia remains complex and persistently fragile. In a context where humanitarian actors provide most basic nutrition services, effective coordination, digitized data systems, and evidence-based planning are essential to ensure resources reach the most vulnerable populations.
The Nutrition Cluster plays a central role in facilitating coordinated response planning, monitoring service coverage, and supporting joint humanitarian analysis in line with the Humanitarian Programme Cycle. At the same time, UNICEF, as Cluster Lead Agency and a major operational partner, requires structured programme monitoring, digital reporting systems, and timely analytical support to track performance, identify implementation gaps, and inform adaptive management.
The Information Management Officer serves a dual function. As a core member of the Cluster Coordination Team, the incumbent maintains essential cluster information management systems, strengthens programme coverage analysis, and supports intersectoral planning. In parallel, the role provides technical information management and monitoring support to the UNICEF Nutrition Programme, ensuring alignment between coordination analysis and programme performance monitorin

- Support core Nutrition Cluster information management functions in line with GNC standards.
- Strengthen programme coverage analysis, service rationalization, and gap identification.
- Support intersectoral data analysis and joint planning processes.
- Support rolls out and utilization of digital reporting platforms to enable real time monitoring.
- Provide structured information management and monitoring support to the UNICEF Nutrition Programme.
- Contribute to documentation, learning, and evidence generation through analytical briefs and case studies.
- Maintain and regularly update core cluster datasets, including 4Ws, partner mapping, service availability, and geographic coverage.
- Compile, clean, and validate partner reported data on admissions, programme performance, and key indicators.
- Conduct regular trend analysis of SAM and MAM admissions, programme coverage, and service utilization patterns to identify geographic gaps, underserved populations, and emerging concerns.
- Analyze programme coverage to identify gaps, duplications, and overlaps in service provision, and support evidence-based recommendations to improve targeting and rationalization of services.
- Support geographic mapping of service delivery points in relation to burden, population movements, and access constraints to inform prioritization.
- Produce concise monthly dashboards, coverage maps, and analytical summaries for coordination meetings, highlighting trends, gaps, overlaps, and priority actions.
- Maintain structured, accessible repositories of datasets and information products to ensure transparency and institutional continuity.
- Support cluster inputs to HNO, HRP, and other Humanitarian Programme Cycle milestones through consolidation of coverage data, caseload analysis, and gap assessment.
- Ensuring nutrition data, including coverage, response gaps, and partner presence, is accurately reflected in inter cluster information products and joint analysis outputs.
- Actively engage in intersectoral coordination with Health, WASH, Food Security, Protection, and other relevant clusters to support joint analysis and planning.
- Consolidate nutrition data with intersectoral datasets to support comprehensive situational analysis.
- Contribute to convergence analysis highlighting overlap between nutrition burden, disease outbreaks, food insecurity, displacement, WASH gaps, and protection risks.
- Support joint prioritization and targeting exercises based on multi sector vulnerability analysis.
- Represent the Nutrition Cluster in inter cluster information management working groups and technical forums as required.
- Support the roll out, utilization, and continuous improvement of digital data collection and reporting platforms used by the Nutrition Cluster and UNICEF Nutrition Programme.
- Promote real time monitoring of admissions, service coverage, supply status, and performance indicators through digital systems.
- Support partners and sub national teams in effective use of digital tools for timely and accurate reporting.
- Generate rapid analytical updates to support early warning, adaptive management, and operational course correction.
- Contribute to strengthening data quality, consistency, and transparency through digitized systems.
- Consolidate and analyze UNICEF supported programme performance data against approved targets and milestones.
- Maintain structured monitoring datasets and flag deviations, inconsistencies, or performance concerns including shared M&E score cards on a quarterly meeting.
- Prepare analytical summaries, tables, and visualizations for programme reviews and strategic decision making.
- Support compilation of evidence for internal reporting, donor reports, and programme assessments.
- Support Nutrition analysis for reporting in internal UNICEF reporting such as RAM, COAR; track TA support from Center of Excellence and other office reporting.
- Ensure coherence between cluster level analysis and UNICEF performance data.
- Conduct routine data validation and quality checks on partner reported data.
- Follow up on reporting completeness and timelines.
- Promote adherence to agreed indicators, reporting templates, and data standards.
- Ensure responsible data management practices, including confidentiality, safeguarding, and PSEA principles within information processes.
- Support documentation of programme implementation experiences, lessons learned, and good practices.
- Contribute to development of analytical briefs, short reports, and case studies for advocacy, learning, and strategic communication.
- Maintain organized documentation repositories to strengthen institutional memory.
- Support evidence generation to inform adaptive programming and future design.
