Overview of position CTG is looking for a qualified Alternate Power Technician for our operations. Role objectives Install & commission UPS, solar & battery systems, as well as assist in installing a variety of critical power equipment. Install, configure & maintain UPS systems according to manufacturer specifications & industry best practices. Conduct routine maintenance & testing of AC / DC power systems hardware & UPS systems for optimal performance & reliability. Inspect newly procured UPS, batteries, solar & related equipment. Coordinate with the network team to ensure online backup systems firmware is up to date for improved equipment performance & reliability. Research modern alternative power equipment & methods to enhance existing systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to find better solutions. Travel to various UN sites to perform scheduled preventative maintenance & repairs on UPS systems, AC / DC rectifiers, batteries, solar backup systems & Power Distribution Units (PDUs). Accurately troubleshoot & diagnose UPS systems, as well as other AC & DC backup systems. Respond to emergency maintenance requests at remote UN sites within the required time frame. Complete documentation promptly & accurately using the company's computer systems & assess & report the urgency of needed repairs. Project reporting This role reports to the line manager. Key competencies Diploma in or an equivalent of educational certification. The technician should have a 6 years of working experience in alternate power systems & system integration any country. Experience providing services in the field of alternate power area to or in a field operation of the UN common system or comparable international organization is desirable. Experience in the field of information systems or related area in a conflict or post conflict setting is required. Must have excellent oral & written communication skills. Must meet deadlines & provide quick turnaround on projects when needed. Work as part of FTS duty roster responsible for emergency customer support calls after official working hours. Possession of a valid driving license. Fluency in written & spoken English is required. Willingness to work with minimum supervision. Team management This role has no team management responsibility.
