Job Description

This is an HQ position open only to national candidates from Colombia, Kenya, Ukraine, and Syria. The selected candidate will be based and employed as national staff in their country of nationality.

Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO provides daily support to more than 1,500 NGOs operating in more than 24 of the world’s most insecure countries. Job Summary

INSO is seeking an experienced Information Manager to join our HQ Data, Technology and Learning (DTL) team. This is an opportunity to shape how data keeps humanitarians safe across more than 24 countries and contexts, leading the quality assurance of INSO core systems: the Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC), the INSO Portal & App, as well as implementing harmonized Visualisation Standards across all teams.

Reporting to the Senior Information Manager, you'll turn global data practices into clear standards, tools, and training that help INSO teams deliver services in complex environments. You'll also cover for the Senior Information Manager during their absence and lead initiatives and exciting projects across the DTL department.

Main Responsibilities

Manage the Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)

  • Be INSO's focal point on CHDC methodology, standards, and reference data, guiding every Country Office toward best practice.
  • Build the tools and automations that catch errors early and keep data quality high, everywhere.
  • Deliver tool-related trainings, inductions, and webinars to Country Office teams and partners.

Manage the INSO Portal, App & Platforms

  • Become the global administrator of INSO Portal, providing guidelines, driving consistent use, and leading feedback loops (intake and action) within all Country Offices.
  • Build and deliver inductions and trainings on core workflows: partner registration, user management, and support.
  • Ensure a partner-centric approach in all platforms, communications, and documentation.

Implement and support INSO Visualisation Standards

  • Maintain Visualisation Standards guidelines, documents, and templates clear and up to date.
  • Support Country Offices in adopting the standards, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Automate ETL, dashboard, and mapping workflows to save time across all country offices.
  • Build and maintain ArcGIS templates and geodatabases to be used by all country offices.

Lead Global Coordination

  • Step in for the Senior Information Manager during absences.
  • Coordinate communication between Country Offices and HQ.
  • Resolve Helpdesk tickets and maintain the Information Management SharePoint site.
  • Contribute to onboarding, recruitment, and wider DTL projects.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in data management, data visualisation, or information management.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (such as Tableau).
  • Proficiency in database management using SQL.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal.
  • Basic knowledge in GIS software and systems (e.g. using QGIS or ArcGIS).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, GIS, or relevant field.
  • Experience working with humanitarian organisations, particularly NGOs operating in complex contexts.
  • Knowledge of or previous professional experience in Myanmar.
  • Experience delivering training or capacity building related to data or information management tools.
