Purpose of the Position

The Grant and Business Development will be responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of grants and business development efforts at APD, from identifying funding opportunities and developing proposals to ensuring post-award compliance, reporting, and close-out. The role aims to ensure effective resource mobilization, full donor compliance, and alignment of grants with APD’s strategic objectives.

The Grant and Business Development will report directly to the Executive Director and Program Director.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and track funding opportunities from bilateral and multilateral donors, foundations, and other funding partners.

Lead the proposal writing process, including drafting narratives, logical frameworks, and budgets in collaboration with the finance team.

Serve as the focal point for all awarded grants, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, contractual obligations, and APD policies.

Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure accurate budgeting, financial reporting, and cost eligibility.

Ensure all donor reporting deadlines are strictly met.

Act as a key liaison with donors on grant-related matters, including clarifications, amendments, audits, and grant negotiations.

Maintain grant tracking systems and ensure proper documentation and record keeping.

Support project teams to ensure grant implementation aligns with donor requirements and organizational priorities.

Contribute to resource mobilization strategies and partnership development initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

An advanced university degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in grant management and proposal development within LNGOs, INGOs, development organizations, or international institutions.

Proven experience managing grants from institutional donors, including UN agencies, bilateral donors, foundations, and international partners.

Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements, financial rules, and reporting obligations.

Demonstrated experience in proposal writing, budgeting, and donor engagement.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
