Job Description

Consultancy for Videography Services and Photography Services. Terms of Reference (ToR) Concern Worldwide is an international non-governmental humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries Background and context The SERVE project, funded by Concern Worldwide and implemented in partnership with LOKADO , SAPCONE , and PACIDA , focuses on delivering emergency response and recovery support to vulnerable households in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) of Kenya . Targeting 105,605 individuals (69,603 women, 36,002 men) across Marsabit and Turkana counties, the project addresses critical sectors, including Food Assistance, Agriculture, Livestock, Nutrition, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) . Key interventions include: Unconditional cash transfers to households. Livestock vaccination and treatment . Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) Surge interventions . WASH activities to promote hygiene, access to clean water, and provision of non-food items (NFIs). Given the significance of the project, high-quality videography and photography are required to visually document the achievements, impact, and stories of the communities involved. Purpose of the Consultancy The purpose of this consultancy is to produce: A 20-minute documentary-style film , including interviews, narrated storytelling, and vivid images, showcasing the full spectrum of project activities. Four 2-3 minute videos for each sub-sector: WASH, Agriculture, Livestock, and Health/Nutrition , optimized for web and social media use . One 2-3 minute short clip to showcase the project’s milestones in a nutshell. The consultant will work closely with the Media and Communication Officer and the program teams in Turkana and Marsabit to ensure all content accurately represents the project’s achievements and the communities impacted. Scope of Work The consultant will be responsible for the following: Videography: 20-minute documentary that captures: Project activities across the counties of Turkana and Marsabit. Vivid footage of beneficiaries, communities, and partners. On-site interviews with key stakeholders, including project staff, government officials, and beneficiaries. Narration that tells the story of the SERVE project’s impact. A detailed focus on sub-sectors: Food Assistance, Agriculture, Livestock, Nutrition, and WASH . 2–3 minute videos for each sub-sector (WASH, Agriculture, Livestock, and Health/Nutrition) highlighting: Specific success stories and activities. Clear, concise messaging tailored for social media. Photography: A comprehensive photo library of high-quality images that capture key project activities, beneficiaries, and landscapes, with a particular focus on: Beneficiary testimonials. Livestock vaccination activities. Water supply, hygiene promotion, and WASH NFIs. Agricultural practices and food distribution. Health interventions in nutrition, including malnutrition screenings and IMAM surge activities. At least 100 edited images to be used in reports, social media, and donor engagement. Post-Production: Professional editing, ensuring high-quality visuals, smooth transitions, and appropriate use of music and narration. Inclusion of partner logos and acknowledgments where necessary. Subtitles and text overlays for clarity in short videos. Deliverables should be provided in formats suitable for web and social media , and full-resolution versions for other uses (presentations, donor reports). Payments Concern Worldwide will provide payment upon the successful delivery of agreed outputs, subject to all applicable taxes. Expenses such as any accommodation or meals will be covered by Concern. Please note: Preproduction days and postproduction days are not counted as additional working days that warrant a daily rate. NOTE: All payments shall be subject to applicable taxes where relevant, as per the law. The fee will be paid in one (1) instalment against an invoice issued by the Consultant as follows: 100% of the contract sum upon acceptance of the final submission of the content. Security It is a requirement that the consultant will comply with [Kenya] security policy and in-country security procedures. Failing to comply will result in immediate termination of the contract. Timeframe Pre-Production (1 day): Review project documentation. Develop storyboards in collaboration with the Communication Officer and program team. Planning and logistics for field visits. Travel days –7th and 13th July 2025 Fieldwork (5 days): Travel to Marsabit to capture footage and photography. Marsabit 8th – 12th July 2025 (Content creation days) Conduct interviews and capture activities across different sub-sectors. Post-Production (2 days): Editing, narration, and assembly of final video and images. Submission of drafts for feedback. Review and Final Revisions (1 day): Incorporate feedback from Concern Worldwide and project partners. Essential Requirements for a Photographer/Videographer Technical Experience: Proven experience in professional photography and videography in the development and humanitarian sector, particularly in remote and challenging environments. Strong portfolio capturing high-quality images and video content related to livelihood activities and community development. Photography Equipment: Full-frame DSLR or mirrorless camera , such as Canon EOS R5 or Sony A7R IV , with the following lenses: Wide-angle lens (16-35mm) for landscapes and large scenes. Telephoto lens (70-200mm) for distant subjects. Prime lens (50mm f/1.8) for portraiture and low-light conditions. Drone Equipment: Proven ability to capture aerial footage with a drone. Drone specifications: DJI Mavic 3 or DJI Air 2S , with 4K resolution , obstacle avoidance , and extended flight time capabilities . Adaptability: Ability to work independently and manage equipment in extreme environments . Comfortable traveling and operating in remote and challenging contexts .
