Background
German Doctors e.V. (GD) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to promote the right to health for all people especially in underserved regions across the globe - through direct treatment, training, awareness, deployment of volunteer medical professionals and humanitarian aid. We are committed to promoting human dignity, delivering high-quality healthcare, and training, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, religion, or political affiliation.
Since 1997, GD has been working in partnerships with different local NGOs in Kenya and since 2022 GD has been working in partnerships with different local NGOs in Somalia.
GD is seeking an experienced trainer to design and deliver an anti-corruption training for our partner organizations in Kenya and Somalia (with HQ in Kenya).
Target Group
- Project officers, finance staff, compliance or management staff of GDsâ partner organizations in Kenya and Somalia
- Max. 30 participants from various Kenyan and Somalian organizations
- In-person training in Nairobi
Objective of the Training
The training aims to:
- Raise awareness of corruption risks in NGO settings and in the host countries;
- Provide foundational and practical knowledge of anti-corruption principles and compliance;
- Strengthen participantsâ ability to prevent, detect, and respond to fraud and corruption risks;
- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within partner organizations.

Indicative Content (open to additions)
- Anti-corruption basics (definitions of corruption, fraud, bribery, and misuse
of funds; relevance, key principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity) - Context-specific Corruption Risks in Kenya and Somalia
- Roles and responsibilities
- âDoâs and Donâtsâ in project planning and implementation
- Identification and analysis of corruption and fraud risks (including risk assessment tools), incl. discussion of potential loopholes within the org. structures
- Anti-corruption measures and prevention mechanisms
- Detection and response (recognizing red flags and early warning signs; handling suspected cases of fraud or corruption)
- Reporting mechanisms and whistleblowing
- Ensure alignment with GDâs internal anti-corruption policy, procurement guideline, Code of Conduct, and reporting procedures, including practical application exercises
- Foster sharing experiences, best practices and learnings
- Ensure confidentiality of shared experiences during the training
Trainer Profile Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in the anti-corruption & compliance field
- Proven experience working with (I)NGOs and local partner organizations
- Experience in delivering interactive and participatory trainings
Expected Deliverables
- Design and delivery of the 2-day training
- Review of existing policies (of GD and partner organisations) as training preparation
- Provision of training materials (e.g. presentations, handouts) in English
- Use of interactive and participatory methods (e.g. case studies, group work)
- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments and provide a brief evaluation report on participant learning outcomes and further learning needs.
- Provision of feedback and recommendations on partner organizationsâ policies and procedures (depending on financial cost â please list separately in budget)
