About Acted Acted is an International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) with a triple Zero objective: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon and Zero Poverty. With Headquarters in Paris, Acted has worked for 30 years in some of the most hard-to-reach contexts to deliver life saving assistance to populations in need, and support sustainable development and disaster resilience in 40+ countries around the world with an annual budget of 500-600 million EUR. In 2024, Acted implemented 528 projects in 43 countries, supporting 18.5 million beneficiaries with almost 7000 staff. Registered in Kenya since 2004, Acted has a national office in Nairobi with partners, staff, and operations across various counties. In Kenya, Actedâs objective is to advance poverty reduction; strengthen climate resilience; and promote social inclusion, through supporting (1) locally led humanitarian action; (2) climate change resilience and biodiversity and (3) innovative, entrepreneurial solutions for sustainable development. The Kenya Cash Consortium (KCC) has been providing multi-purpose cash assistance to food insecure, disaster-affected communities across Kenyaâs Arid and Semi-Arid counties for over six years. Led by Acted, in partnership with Oxfam, Concern Worldwide, IMPACT initiatives, and the ASAL Humanitarian Network with over 12 local partners, the KCC provides an agile, localized approach to emergency response across the ASALs. Since 2019, the KCC has supported locally led coordination and advocacy through the ASAL Humanitarian Network, contributing to strengthening disaster preparedness and social protection systems across Northern Kenya. Job Purpose In close collaboration with consortium members, the Consortium Manager ensures the high-quality, high-impact and timely implementation of the Kenya Cash Consortiumâs cash and disaster preparedness activities. The Consortium Manager coordinates the activities between partners and ensures alignment, synergies and efficiency gains while enhancing coordination with humanitarian actors, county and national governments. Objectives To represent and position the consortium towards external stakeholders ensuring the mission, vision and interests of the consortium and its members are continuously promoted To facilitate coordination and communication among consortium partners and ensure the consortium partnership operates in an effective manner; To ensure the project is implemented as per the set-out goals, objectives, indicators and timelines in line with donor requirements and community feedback; Summary of duties and responsibilities Coordination Protect and promote the vision, mission and interests of consortium partners towards external stakeholders; Represent the consortium toward the donor(s) and government authorities and therefore communicate with the donor(s) and government authorities; Participate in technical working groups meetings Kenya Cash Working Group and other relevant working groups or coordination platforms; Lead the drafting and dissemination of position papers, statements, reports and releases on consortiumâs engagements and humanitarian advocacy; Convene and chair regular (e.g. monthly, quarterly) consortium steering committee meetings to discuss programme and financial planning, disseminate minutes and follow up on action points; Support the development and maintenance of a coherent consortium strategy across all partners; Project Management Define project implementation modalities and methodologies (including, but not limited to technical specifications, identification and registration of beneficiaries, distribution and sensitization); Oversee and monitor the work of consortium and local implementing partners, ensuring that technical quality and standards are considered and respected during project implementation; Coordinate and put in place program capitalization system in collaboration with each focal point from each consortium partner; Ensure that donor rules and procedures are understood and respected by all parties, sharing information and conducting training if required on proposed system and processes for consortium management; Ensure external reporting for all the consortium members according to donor and Acted requirements is respected by all according to agreed deadlines; Requirements Masterâs degree in humanitarian aid, disaster management, development, climate change, social work or related fields is required At least 5 yearsâ experience in project management or coordination within an NGO/UN/humanitarian setting is required. Experience in cash programming is essential; Experience in disaster management, coordination and policy advocacy is strongly preferred Experience working with local authorities, county and national government is preferred Experience in consortium management/coordination strongly preferred; Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting is required; Multi-tasking skills: Ability to multitask with tight deadlines, on numerous emergency responses is required; Level of independence: Proven ability to work independently is required; Cross-cultural work environment: Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment is required; Language skills: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Swahili language and/or local languages is an asset
