Background
Wamo Relief and Rehabilitation Services (WRRS) is a Somali national humanitarian and development organization working to support vulnerable and crisis-affected communities through integrated humanitarian and development programming.
WRRS is implementing a sustainable development and resource management project in Afmadow District, Lower Juba, aimed at strengthening livelihoods, resilience and sustainable management of natural resources among vulnerable communities.
WRRS is seeking a qualified and experienced Climate-Resilient Agriculture Specialist / Agricultural Advisor to provide technical leadership and support on climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable natural resource management and related agricultural activities throughout project implementation.
Position Purpose
The Climate-Resilient Agriculture Specialist / Agricultural Advisor will provide technical guidance and support to ensure that agricultural and natural resource management interventions are technically sound, climate-resilient, environmentally appropriate and responsive to the needs of participating communities.
The position will work closely with the Project Manager, Livelihood Officers, MEAL Coordinator, community structures and relevant stakeholders to strengthen agricultural practices, build the capacity of farmers and support the adoption of sustainable approaches that contribute to resilient livelihoods.

Key Responsibilities
A. Climate-Resilient Agriculture and Technical Support
•
Provide technical guidance on climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural production practices.
•
Support the promotion of improved farming techniques, including soil and water conservation, sustainable land management and climate adaptation.
•
Conduct field assessments and provide practical recommendations to address agricultural production challenges.
•
Provide technical guidance on appropriate seeds, production inputs and climate-resilient agricultural technologies.
•
Support farmers and project teams in improving agricultural productivity, sustainability and resilience.
B. Farmer Training and Capacity Building
•
Develop and facilitate practical training for farmers, lead farmers and relevant community groups on climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable natural resource management.
•
Provide technical coaching and follow-up to farmers to support the application and adoption of recommended practices.
•
Strengthen the capacity of lead farmers and community-based structures to promote and disseminate climate-resilient agricultural practices.
•
Support practical and field-based learning approaches, including demonstration activities.
C. Demonstration and Environmental Measures
•
Provide technical oversight and guidance for field-based agricultural activities.
•
Support the application of appropriate soil conservation, water management and other environmentally sustainable practices.
•
Provide technical input into environmental and productive measures to ensure they are appropriate to local conditions and sustainable.
•
Monitor implementation quality and provide recommendations for improvement where required.
D. Technical Monitoring and Quality Assurance
•
Conduct regular field visits to monitor agricultural activities and assess technical quality and progress.
•
Identify technical challenges and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
•
Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure relevant agricultural data and information are properly collected and documented.
•
Contribute technical information to project reports, reviews, assessments and evaluations.
E. Coordination, Learning and Reporting
•
Work closely with the Project Manager, Livelihood Officers, MEAL Coordinator and other technical staff.
•
Coordinate with local authorities and relevant agricultural stakeholders.
•
Document technical lessons, good practices, challenges and recommendations.
•
Contribute to project reporting, case studies and other technical documentation.
•
Participate in relevant coordination, review and learning meetings.
F. Sustainability and Natural Resource Management
•
Support communities to adopt sustainable approaches to the management and use of natural resources.
•
Promote practices that strengthen resilience to climate-related shocks and contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
•
Provide technical support to farmers to maintain and sustain project-supported agricultural and environmental measures.
