Job Description

Short Term Engagement: May – November 2026 NB: This is an individual engagement, not a consultancy assignment. Selected BDS Providers will receive a fixed monthly fee for the duration of the engagement. Light for the World (LFTW – Kenya) is seeking highly skilled and committed Business Development Service (BDS) Providers to support the PowerUp Program, focused on training and mentoring 1000+ microentrepreneurs (MEs) in the repair, collection and aggregation segments of the e-waste value chain across Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Meru, Embu, and Mombasa counties. This is a short term engagement (May – November 2026) . About the PowerUp Program PowerUp is an inclusive entrepreneurship program supporting microentrepreneurs working across the e-waste value chain, with a focus on repairers and collectors. The program provides technical skills, business development support, mentorship, and linkages to markets and finance. In 2026, the program will focus on scaling support to repairers, e-waste collectors and aggregators in select counties, ensuring inclusive participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities, and strengthening local circular ecosystems. Key Responsibilities Mobilize, Verify, Train and Deliver group and 1:1 coaching and mentorship for assigned microentrepreneurs over the implementation period. Facilitate structured technical and business support through in-person coaching sessions and field visits. Support MEs to strengthen recordkeeping using provided business tools and templates. Promote inclusive participation , ensuring reasonable accommodation (RA) and adaptive facilitation approaches for women and persons with disabilities. Link MEs to market opportunities , repair hubs, suppliers, and relevant financial or business networks. Participate in refresher sessions and contribute to peer learning throughout the engagement. Submit weekly progress reports and coaching logs using LFTW data tracking systems. Collaborate closely with the LFTW MERLA and Program teams to ensure effective, inclusive, and accountable program delivery. Eligibility & Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience in business coaching or mentorship, especially in the informal sector, repair businesses, electronics, or circular economy. Required: Demonstrated experience in disability-inclusion practices, including supporting the participation of persons with disabilities and applying inclusive training/mentorship methods. Practical experience supporting youth, women, and persons with disabilities in livelihood or entrepreneurship initiatives. Strong understanding of market systems , grassroots businesses, and inclusive finance. Experience with milestone-based support , follow-up visits, and performance documentation for micro or small enterprises. Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to train diverse participants in simple and accessible formats. Residence or active operation in at least one of the target counties (Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Meru, Embu, or Mombasa). Familiarity with digital reporting tools is an added advantage.
