Job Summary

The Branch Manager leads and oversees all branch operations to achieve operational excellence, business

growth, and financial performance. The role drives branch loan and remittance target, leads client

onboarding and loan appraisal, ensures accurate capture of customer information in the system, and

maintains high standards of customer service. The Branch Manager directly supervises the branch’s Loan

Officers and Sales/Client Acquisition Officers. The Branch Manager reports to the Operations Manager and

coordinates with the collections team on handover of overdue accounts while remaining accountable for

branch origination quality, growth, and service.

Primary Responsibilities:

Branch Operations & Administration

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the branch, including loan application processing, disbursement,

customer service, and remittance operations.

  • Manage branch administrative tasks and maintain a client-ready environment.
  • Monitor service quality, handle client complaints, and manage escalated issues.
  • Train and mentor staff on systems, processes, and customer-service standards, ensuring full adherence to

SOPs, policies, and compliance requirements.

  • Enforce strict confidentiality and data-protection protocols to safeguard client information.

Business Growth and Marketing

  • Drive branch growth by actively promoting all Asal products and achieving monthly disbursement,

portfolio-size, and client-acquisition targets.

  • Lead client acquisition and retention and support marketing initiatives to expand outreach.
  • Monitor competitor activity and recommend strategies to stay ahead.
  • Ensure all growth activities are conducted responsibly and in alignment with risk, compliance, and

institutional policies.

Onboarding, Appraisal and Data Integrity

  • Lead client onboarding and conduct client assessments to evaluate creditworthiness and repayment

capacity.

  • Review and appraise loan applications and approve within delegated authority; escalate applications

above branch limits to the Operations Manager.

  • Ensure all client and loan information is accurate, complete, and entered into the Musoni system on time.
  • Ensure all BNPL and loan financing comply with credit and operational policies and procedures.

Portfolio Coordination and Team Management

  • Coordinate with the Credit Manager and Collection Officers on timely handover and follow-up of overdue

accounts.

  • Monitor branch Portfolio at Risk and support recovery efforts in collaboration with the collections team.
  • Monitor individual staff performance, targets, and productivity to ensure achievement of branch goals and

set KPIs.

Compliance, Risk and Financial Performance

  • Ensure compliance with AML/KYC requirements and proper client screening as per CBS regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all branch activities, transactions, and compliance reports for audits

and inspections.

  • Ensure the branch meets profitability targets by driving revenue growth while maintaining strong portfolio

quality.

  • Provide regular performance reports and recommendations for improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of monthly disbursement, portfolio-size, and client-acquisition targets.
  • Quality of loan appraisals and portfolio health at origination.
  • Data accuracy and completeness in the Musoni system.
  • Customer service quality and complaint-resolution timeliness.
  • Branch profitability and healthy PAR levels.
  • Staff productivity and achievement of set KPIs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in microfinance, banking, or financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a team to meet performance targets.
  • Proficiency in Musoni or other digital financial systems.
  • Excellent understanding of client relationship management and a client-focused approach aligned with

microfinance principles.

  • Analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret portfolio data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory Role and Key Working Relationship

  • Supervisory Role: Supervises assigned branch staff, including Loan Officers and Client Services Officers.
  • Reports to: Operations Manager.
  • Internal: Branch staff (Loan Officers, Client Services Officers), Collection Manager, Finance Department,

Compliance Officer, and HR.

  • External: Clients and local authorities (if required).
