Vacancy Announcement No: JR121145Job Title: Aviation Assistant – 2 PositionsContract Type/Grade: Fixed Term, G5Duty Station: Galkayo & GaroweContract Duration: 12 Months (Renewable)Date of Issue: March 12, 2026, | Closing Date: March 25, 2026 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)• Liaise in close relationship with UNDSS and airport authorities, coordinate security, medical and security evacuations for the UN andINGO community through UNHAS.• Ensure security and safety of the aircraft is maintained whenever the aircraft night stops in the airfield.• Continuously coordinate with direct supervisor on all UNHAS operations with contractors including air operators and ground handlingcompanies to ensure effective, efficient, and reliable delivery of service to UNHAS operations• Ensure continuous communication with direct supervisors on any challenges faced while executing any given task.• Liaise with MoCAA and Airport Authorities to ensure overflight and Landing permits are received on time to ensure uninterrupted UNHASflight operations.• Coordinate all UNHAS planned flights into his/her location -including other connecting flight.• Closely monitor and supervise all ground handling contractors including fueling to ensure safety is continuously maintained.• Ensure the distribution of UNHAS scheduled flights a day prior to the scheduled plan, advise the check-in counter opening and closuresany time flights are planned. Advise clients/ users of UNHAS check-in procedures.• Coordinate and monitor UNHAS flights through November, one radio room or any other means of communication provided for accurateEstimated Time of Arrival (ETA), Actual Time of Departure (ATD) and any other pertinent flight information. Also communicate or alert(before landing) any security incident at or within the aerodrome and its vicinity that may affect the safety of flights.• Engage in the UNHAS check-in processes, ensure only authorized passengers with acceptable documenta === Skills & Qualifications === QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREDEducation: Completion of secondary school education OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in flight dispatch, aeronauticalengineering, air traffic control, or other related fields.Experience: At least five (5) years of experience with a secondary school certificate OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s)with a minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in aviation-related fields.Languages: Fluent knowledge of English and Somali language.Knowledge and Skills Required:• Experience in handling flight processes and knowledge of aviation operations in the field.• Experience in dispatching flights from uncontrolled airfields and interpreting operational flight plans is required.• Experience working in the aviation section of an international organization is desirable.• Experience in Ground Operations, Ramp Safety, RFFS (Rescue and Fire Fighting Services), and Emergency Response is alsodesirable. --- About Somalia --- Somalia is located in the Horn of Africa and has a growing job market, particularly in the humanitarian, development, and private sectors.
