1. Background horizont3000 is an Austrian NGO working in the area of development cooperation. Mandated by its member organisations in the Catholic development sector and the Austrian Development Cooperation, HORIZONT3000 specialises in the monitoring and implementation of projects as well as the provision of Advisors in the low income countries. The organisation operates in East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and South Sudan) , Central America (Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador) and South America (Brazil) . Through its Regional and Country offices and programmes, horizont3000 focuses on securing livelihoods, strengthening civil society, and sharing knowledge with partner organisations. In East Africa, the programme implements two major framework programmes: Co-Finance Programme - providing project grants to partner organisations. Advisory Programme - providing long-term capacity development advisors. Every year, new advisors arrive in the region from Europe to support partner organisations in various technical fields. These advisors often encounter significant cultural differences in their work and daily life. To ensure smooth integration and effective collaboration, horizont3000 will conduct a two-day intercultural training to enhance participants’ cultural orientation, communication, and adaptive work behaviours. 2. Objectives The training aims to; Improve cross-cultural competences in communication and work relations. Increase awareness of common difficulties in cross-cultural encounters. Identify and compare cultural differences that may cause challenges in work and daily interactions. Develop strategies for coping effectively with intercultural communication challenges. Build collaborative and inclusive team dynamics, including conflict resolution and trust-building in multicultural teams. Strengthen intercultural leadership abilities, including cultural intelligence and inclusive organisational practices. 3. Scope and Methodology Participants will be6 Advisors (newly assigned to East Africa). The trainer is expected to use highly participatory and interactive approaches , including: Role plays, group discussions, and interactive exercises. Context-specific examples relevant to East African cultural settings. Peer-learning approaches that draw on participants’ existing experiences. Consensus-building techniques to encourage shared understanding. The training content should be customised to the needs of Technical Advisors working in diverse intercultural contexts and should address real-life work and social situations. 4. Deliverables and Timeline The consultant/trainer will be expected to deliver the following outputs within the agreed timeframes: Draft Training Proposal A concise 1–2 page document outlining the proposed content, training methodology, session outline, and any preparatory materials. This should be accompanied by the trainer’s updated CV and submitted to

Final Training Proposal A refined version of the proposal that incorporates HORIZONT3000’s feedback, including a final agenda, clearly defined learning objectives, and detailed participant engagement methods. Deadline: 9 September 2025. Training Materials All handouts, PowerPoint slides, case studies, and activity guides to be used during the training sessions, submitted electronically for pre-session review and approval. Deadline: 16 September 2025. Delivery of Training Facilitation of a two-day, face-to-face intercultural training in Kampala on 24–25 September 2025, running from 09:00 to 17:00 each day. Sessions will include a 30-minute tea/coffee break at 10:30 and 15:00, and a one-hour lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00. Participant Feedback Forms Administration of pre- and post-training feedback forms to assess knowledge acquisition, skill improvement, and participant satisfaction. The trainer will collect and compile this data for reporting purposes. Deadline: 25 September 2025. Final Training Report A concise 3–5 page report summarising the training process, key learning outcomes, lessons learned, participant feedback, and recommendations for future capacity building. The report should include all training materials used as annexes. Deadline: 3 October 2025. 5. Budget The total budget for the intercultural training is UGX 4,000,000 . This amount is inclusive of all trainer fees, training materials, and local transport , as well as applicable local taxes. The consultant/trainer will be responsible for managing the budget within this allocation and ensuring all costs are accounted for in the final reporting. 6. Trainer Profile The consultant/trainer should meet the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Communication, Social Sciences, Counselling Psychology, or Organisational Development. A Master’s degree is preferred. At least 5 years of professional experience in training, capacity building, or related fields. Strong knowledge of adult learning methodologies and facilitation skills. Proven experience in using interactive and participatory training methods, including role plays, group discussions, and peer learning approaches. Experience in development cooperation and working with local, regional, and international NGOs. Preferably an East African citizen and based in Uganda. Excellent intercultural communication skills and cultural sensitivity. Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
