Position summary Pharo Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Electrician and Electronics Technician to join our team in Sheikh. Key Relationships Job Title: Electrician Reporting to: School Administration and General Services Location: Sheikh, Somaliland Contract Type: Fixed Term - One year (possibility of renewal Key Responsibilities: • Perform routine electrical maintenance across the campus including classrooms, offices, dormitories, and labs. • Diagnose and repair faults in wiring systems, lighting, sockets, circuit breakers, solar systems, electrical generators, and other electrical fixtures. • Install and maintain electronic systems and devices such as projectors, printers, sound systems, CCTV, routers, smart boards, and lab equipment. • Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical and electronic systems to ensure safety and compliance with standards. • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or repairs to avoid disruption of school operations. • Collaborate with the maintenance and IT teams for effective planning and troubleshooting. • Maintain inventory and request timely procurement of electrical and electronic tools and supplies. • Assist the maintenance team as a handyman with other responsibilities when not engaged in plumbing repairs • Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment servicing logs. • Support the school with technical setup for school events or digital learning tools as needed. • Train junior staff or students on basic maintenance and safe usage of electrical/electronic tools (if required). • Provide support with other boarding-related duties as required, and perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the school administration. Qualifications & Requirements • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Installation, Electronics, or a related technical field. • Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in electrical and electronics maintenance (school or institutional setting preferred). • Strong understanding of safety protocols, technical manuals, and diagnostic equipment. • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to urgent issues. • Familiarity with solar power systems or low-voltage networks is an added advantage. • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset .
