Under the direct responsibility of the Technical Project Manager, the 3D Printing Technology Physical Rehabilitation Physiotherapist (3D Printing Physio) will be responsible for supporting and implementing the physical and functional rehabilitation activities of the HI project(s) for the targeted population (persons with disability and vulnerable groups). S/he will be responsible for leading, initiating, ensuring, coordinating, and following up on all activities related to physical and functional rehabilitation services (assessment of persons in need of 3D printing technology P&O services, capacity building, mapping of services for medical referral for services outside the physical and functional rehabilitation project, and distribution of mobility aids/devices) to persons with disabilities.
The physiotherapist will work in the health facilities and/or through a mobile team in a satellite workstation in the different health facilities and communities within the Somali regional state of Ethiopia. Given the nature of the program and areas of intervention, the position holder will be expected to work outside the normal work hours. S/he will be based in the Somali Region of Degahbour town with frequent (80 %) travel to Woredas and Zones as well as Jigjiga City to provide technical & clinical services as required.
ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS DESCRIPTION
Responsibility 1: Provide technical support to projects for the implementation of rehabilitation activities within the 3D printing project / Project Implementation
Responsibility 2: Maintain and improve the quality of rehabilitation/Physiotherapy services delivery
Responsibility 3: Provide assistive devices and splints/other items when needed, as per HI guidelines
Responsibility 4: Provide technical learning from the project and monitor and follow up activities and reporting
Responsibility 5: Develop tools and guidelines in accordance with the needs
Responsibility 6: Contributes to ensuring HI’s technical influence within its perimeter

- Undertake a Physiotherapist assessment of the potential beneficiary in need of P&O services, suggest intervention, and plan of treatment via the assessment form.
- Provide appropriate technical guidance and support to the technical project manager for the implementation of rehabilitation activities.
- According to the outcomes of the assessment of the beneficiaries’ needs (taking into account her/his daily activities, the participation of her/his caregiver, etc.), develop an appropriate intervention and a plan of treatment.
- Ensure the security of the beneficiary during the physiotherapist sessions and take into account constraints and precautions related to diverse illnesses, problems, and medical treatments. Ask for additional medical advice if the individual beneficiary needs it.
- Coordinates and collaborates with relevant HI support departments, especially logistics, HR, finance, and technical resources.
- Provide Physiotherapist care according to the guidelines of HI’s Physiotherapy interventions guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) and based on the defined objectives between the beneficiary and the caregiver.
- Ensure and be part of the implementation of the Quality Control mechanisms of the 3D-printed P&O service delivery.
- Provide pre-fitting rehab management of the beneficiaries and post-fitting of the 3D-printed P&O devices following the proper gait training and quality check-out procedure.
- Ensure all clinical procedures are followed properly and promote and implement Multi-disciplinary Team Approaches to P&O services delivery.
- Complete the Sessions Follow-up form after each intervention done on a beneficiary and Close follow-up of individual and familial cases to ensure a quality follow-up of all the beneficiaries,
- Provide scanning to the P&O beneficiaries for the 3D printing technology and send the digital information to the P&O technician.
- Identify the beneficiary’s needs in terms of assistive devices and/or splints, etc
- Ensure that the device is adapted to the beneficiary-specific conditions and provide clear explanations to guarantee its proper use and maintenance.
- Collect data as per the framework defined by the Technical Project Manager and/or the HOP.
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of technical data (quantitative/qualitative) in conjunction with the project team and the MEAL Team and provide feedback for similar project proposal developments in the future.
- Contribute to regular reporting of the technical activities for which it is responsible, as agreed with the line manager and P&O technician.
- Contribute to the evaluation of user satisfaction, post-distribution monitoring, and internal evaluation.
- Participate in close collaboration with the Technical Project manager/ Rehabilitation specialist in the design and updating of Physiotherapy tools and processes according to the needs.
- Proposing changes, updates, and improvements of relevant Physiotherapy activities according to the Organization’s strategy, in collaboration with the Technical Project Manager, P&O technician, and HOP
- In collaboration with HI HQ P&O and Rehab specialists, contributes to defining and implementing the technical strategy of HI Ethiopia’s P&O response.
- Contributes to the influence of HI’s expertise: can represent HI’s technical expertise in relevant local networks and with local partners
- Participate in health cluster meetings of the base (Jigjiga, Degahbour)
- Any other task assigned by the technical project manager, Head of Program, or management
- Produce regular reports on HI activities as well as contribute to newsletters, case studies, etc.
- Prepare and submit weekly action plans & reports on your activities to your line manager.
