Work Context CESVI in partnership with WHH and PGI is implementing the project project ProGRESA - Protection, Risk Management and Food Sustainability in and AID) /Kenya in the counties of Garissa and Tana River, Kenya. To improve the resilience of the most vulnerable populations to climate shocks, the action strengthens agro-pastoral activities, risk management plans, and community protection services in Tana River and Garissa counties, targeting in particular 12 villages and 12 farming groups. CESVI, as leading agency of the consortium and technical leading agency for the DRR & EWS component, is looking to recruit a Protection Officer to support and supervise the staff of PGI in the implementation of the protection activities in both country and to guaranty proper monitoring and technical supervision. Job Description Duty Station: Garissa and Tana River Counties with possible travels to Nairobi country Office Duration: 18 months (renewable based on performance and funding availability - 3 months probation period) Starting from: 01/05/2026 Salary Grid Grade: Grade VII Head Key Responsibilities Project Management Collaborate closely with the CESVI Project Manager and the entire project team, actively contributing to all phases of the project life cycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring consistency with the project objectives. Design and develop a weekly progress report to monitor all ongoing project activities, facilitate internal follow-up, and facilitate information exchange with the CESVI Project Manager and other involved partners. Coordinate with the various CESVI departments (logistics, administration, programming, human resources) to define needs, manage scopes and objectives, in line with the project operational plan. Organize the operational plan and project activities: schedule meetings with local stakeholders, arrange logistics, participate in technical meetings, and ensure a smooth operational flow, in coordination with the CESVI Project Manager. Manage the activity workplan and oversee project deadlines, ensuring that the expected timelines are met. Draft and regularly update project documentation: work plans, technical reports, meeting minutes, narrative and monitoring reports. Supervise local project staff: coordinate operational teams in the field, plan daily and weekly activities, and support team capacity building. Ensure that all activities comply with fundamental humanitarian principles, the Code of Conduct, and the project’s transversal policies (protection, gender, accountability), in line with CESVI standards. Participate in the drafting and review of any agreements, protocols, or understandings with local stakeholder (authorities, NGOs, public or private entities), always in coordination with the CESVI PM. Participate in resolving operational or strategic issues that may affect the proper implementation of the project, promptly reporting any issues to the CESVI PM. Perform any other tasks assigned by the CESVI PM, within the scope of project responsibilities and expertships. Project Administration and Logistic Support Provide day-to-day administrative/logistical and project management support to project office team Assist with project travel arrangements, motor vehicle maintenance, office maintenance, and other logistical office support. Oversee the upkeep and filing of relevant project documents to ensure they are easily available when needed especially during audits, donor visits or upon request by HQ. Ensure overall office maintenance, cleanliness, security and supply of the relevant office requirements and items (stationery) in conjunction with Logistics Department at head office. Project Finance Management and Accounting Support in project budget and expenditures management (Petty Cash Processing and Surrender, Purchase Orders and office costs and bills and any other relevant payment requests). Raising requests for office supplies and purchases as per Procurement Plan and ensuring timely acquisition and delivery of the same. Ensure all project finance documents and approvals are in conformity with the laid down organizational procurement and accounting procedures. These include missions order forms, disbursement forms, payment schedules, delivery notes, receipts etc. Internal & External relationships: Internal Project Manager Protection Officer Meal Officer Head of Mission Country Admin Assistant log External Communities and Local Authorities Partners (PGI and WHH) Beneficiaries Reporting Responsibilities Design and develop a weekly progress report to monitor all ongoing project activities Provide monthly updates for the monthly and interim report Directly report to the Project Manager Essential Requirements A university degree is a minimum requirement, preferably in management project management, economics, or a related field, held for at least 4 years. At least 3 years' experience in areas relevant to the role. Previous experience in the education and/or security sectors is an advantage. Experience using Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel. Excellent spoken and written English, with good report writing skills. Good organizational and administrative skills, and aptitude for teamwork. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage teams and activities remotely.
