About MSF Eastern Africa MSF Eastern Africa is the regional institutional office of MSF. It focuses on representation and networking, recruiting and supporting staff from the region, communications and fundraising, as well as working on other dossiers of importance to MSF such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Data Protection, mutualization, training, medical operational support and environmental health. Rationale/Objective for Position This position is for MSF Swiss desk in Nairobi. The Application Manager - OpenMRS will join a dynamic IT Medical Applications team and be responsible for the new EMR solution. Working closely with the IT team, the functional team representatives and the medical teams in the field, she/he will be providing technical support and maintenance, as well as, and assist with rollout of this new tool. Projects or sub-projects assigned to the Application Manager - OpenMRS may involve the implementation of business applications, technical upgrades (infrastructure), or transformational / organizational projects. This position will be reporting hierarchically to the Medical Director / Head of IT Partners and Applications and report functionally to Information Systems Department (DSI) Tasks & Responsibilities Manage OpenMRS3 instances through their entire lifecycle. Provide support to end users by analysing reported incidents and proposing effective solutions. Automate and develop scripts when necessary to optimize processes. Gain a thorough understanding of business requirements, project stakes, benefits, constraints, and interdependencies. Coordinate communication with all areas and stakeholders of the organization impacted by the application lifecycle. Manage suppliers and ensure effective collaboration with them. Define deployment plans based on priorities, allocate tasks within the team, supervise daily efforts, identify resource needs, and conduct quality reviews. Report functional, quality, or timeline issues appropriately. Ensure coherence and good cooperation within the project team. Ensure full compliance with methodology, tools, and standards. Actively propose improvements if necessary. Produce comprehensive documentation and formal reports to ensure traceability of activities and decisions. Qualifications Are you skilled at managing the lifecycle of OpenMRS3 instances while maintaining their availability and quality? Can you analyze user-reported issues, propose effective solutions, and automate processes to optimize workflows? Can you lead the delivery of OpenMRS3 rollouts, ensuring functional coverage, and timely completion? Do you thrive in coordinating communication and collaboration across stakeholders, including field missions and the Medical Department, and enjoy working as part of a team? Are you capable of defining deployment plans, allocating resources, supervising efforts, and ensuring compliance with standards? Can you produce clear documentation and reports to ensure traceability and drive informed decision-making? Education: Tertiary degree in computer sciences, information systems, engineering or related field ITIL 4 Foundation Certification Project management certification (PMP, PMI, Hermès, ...). Experience: Essential: Proven experience as an Application Manager - OpenMRS overseeing release management processes. Extensive experience leading OpenMRS version 3 integration and development projects. Proficient in a wide range of technologies across various roles, including developer, technical lead, and test manager. Experience in development (web, mobile), scripting (Python, shell, etc.), and data management (SQL, reporting tools). Desired: Experience in an international environment is a plus Languages: Essential: Advanced level of English, both written and spoken. Desired: Other MSF working language such as French / Arabic is a bonus. Knowledge & Expertise Comprehensive understanding of IT concepts including architecture, customized and off-the-shelf business solutions, IT organization, infrastructure, and technologies. Solid understanding of medical concepts. Proficiency in OpenMRS installation, configuration, parameterization, and development. Ability to analyze and document processes and systems effectively. Conditions and Benefits: Job Location : MSF Eastern Africa office in Nairobi, Kenya. Contract : Fixed term contract (until 31 December 2026), Full-time. Start date : As Soon As Possible. Salary: An annual salary of EUR 27,145 at HQ Grade 8 based on a full-time appointment with an annual increment of 2% every year up to a maximum of 10 years. Work-life balance financial benefit; ranging between EUR 620 to 1,159/month based on individual & administrative status. This amount may be used to cover accommodation and utilities, transportation, etc. Other benefits include; Annual Leave: 25 days of annual leave per year. Other Holidays: sick leave, circumstantial leave, maternity leave (21 weeks), paternity leave (4 weeks), own affairs days off, etc. Employer Pension contribution : 10% of basic salary.
