About One Acre Fund Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. Our Tanzania program, founded in 2013, supports more than 100,000 farmers with quality farm supplies, as well as fruit trees. Our team in Tanzania is headquartered in Iringa and supported by three smaller offices Mbeya and Njombe in the southern highlands, and Moshi in the north where the team is focused on expanding our services to new clients. One Acre Fund works in select areas in the Iringa and Mbeya regions, with a growing presence in the country’s north. About the Role This role is responsible for managing OAF shops and will assist customers with purchasing agri-related merchandise through mobile payments. Responsibilities Manage a One Acre Fund Duka: Maintain a tidy shopping environment and welcoming atmosphere Ensuring products are displayed in an appealing manner which drives sales. Present yourself in professionalism and personal cleanliness. Market & Sell Impactful Products: Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise and encourages the adoption of the right high-impact products. Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customers needs. Manage Duka Inventory: Ensure excellent inventory management of all products in the duka in compliance with TOSCI, TPHPA and TFRA regulations to ensure customers consistently receive high-quality products. Restock and organise merchandise in the shop. Manage Duka Transactions: Train and process customer payments through mobile payments Manage all receipts and transactions made at the duka, ensuring full compliance with TRA regulations. This includes ensuring accurate record-keeping of products received, products sold and products remaining in the duka with no discrepancy. Provide Excellent Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service to our customers, resulting in repeat visits and long-term brand loyalty Respond to the needs of every customer at the duka by showing genuine care for farmer needs and providing tailored guidance, feedback or recommendations. Treat customers with respect and courtesy Build & Maintain Relationships: Create support for One Acre Fund with local leaders (VEOs and agricultural extension officers) by building strong relationships. Attend and participate in sales meetings or any other meeting or training prepared by the office or key stakeholders after your manager's approval. For this role specifically, you will have: A diploma in agriculture, marketing or social sciences or equivalent is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in retail operations, preferably in rural contexts. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems Experience working in a team-oriented environment Fluent in Swahili. Technology Proficiency: Such as recording sales, inputting information, and retrieving documents or reports on a smartphone or tablet. Also using USSD codes and handling mobile money payments.
